What Is A Desk Hutch?

But what is a hutch? And why is it so popular with students? Technically, it’s a set of shelves or cabinet that sits on a bottom unit. In this case a simple and sturdy college desk.
Traditionally, you might see the hutch on a set of drawers. For example, in my dining room I have an old hutch that belonged to my great great grandfather and sits atop an old secretary's desk. We store dishes and placemats in it.
